I have nothing but praise for Joanne Kao. She is an extremely talented real estate agent who I would recommend without hesitation to anyone looking to buy or sell property in New York. Joanne took charge of a complicated situation involving estate issues and a challenging co-op board and found us a great buyer and sold our apartment at a very good price. Everyone was very happy with the results. Joanne was consistently kind, thoughtful, easy to talk with, and meticulous. Her professionalism was of the highest level. She was very savvy and drove a tough bargain while maintaining very good relations with all parties. Before working with Joanne, I had been involved in several real estate transactions. Never before had I met or worked with a broker of Ms. Kao’s caliber. She is a real pro who took the pain and the headache out of a difficult process.

I don’t usually write reviews online but after working with Joanne this winter and being witness to the extend at which she goes out for her client’s best interest; I am truly truly impressed by her SO here I am writing the review!

We were looking for a rental around the UWS/UES. Before working with Joanne we met with few other realtors. Most nyc realtor in my experience were very quick, not very patient and always in a rush for us to sign something or other. Joanne was exactly the opposite – she was so very patient, knowledgeable and didn’t pressure us for anything. She knew the building, the area and everything around the neighborhood and was very pleasant to work with.

We had a lot of specification and wanted to be on budget. Joanne made us feel okay for being specific and always made us feel that we were priority for her. She also took great deal of effort to made sure that we understood the process well.

I was extremely fortunate to have been in touch with JoAnne when I was looking for an apartment to buy in New York. I was astounded at how informative JoAnne is about the neighborhoods all around NYC including the Upper East Side and the Upper West Side – I was looking for a place in either locations and over the course of 2 weekends my wife and I were shown some of the best apartments that fit the requirements that we set out with JoAnne. During the course of working with her she really took time to understand what we wanted and our plans in order to show us apartments suited us. Ever the professional, JoAnne was completely different to the realtor we were previously using – she was completely on our side and we trusted her fully as we always felt she had our best interests at heart. As a full-service Financial Advisor my client wanted my help in selling his studio in Hell’s Kitchen. My client was moving to Chicago coincidentally where I currently reside. I interviewed JoAnne as part of my due diligence in selecting the right agent to refer to my client. JoAnne was magnificient from the start. Her Market Analysis was thorough and she walked me through the exceptions and pitfalls of the areas comparative sales. “Charlie not all studios are the same”, she said, “this studio with its’ private roof-top deck is a jewel box, we need to find the right buyer for this”, she continued.

Throughtout my professional and personal experience I have worked with over a dozen real estate agents in various states; Indiana, Texas, Florida, California and now NYC. JoAnne marketed the studio as if it were her own. She spared no expense, she never turned down a showing and the Open Houses were practically weekly and only stopped when the client said to STOP. JoAnne also got to show off her negotiating chops. On the first offer, she was very supportive of the counter offer and I have no doubt she did her best in presenting the counter. When the deal fell through, she was positive, supportive and hit the market again with renewed unlimited energy. When the second offer came in, she was very insightful about the buyer which was extremely helpful, in knowing how to proceed with our counter-strategy.

The studio sold at the highest price per square foot in the building, and sold in half the time of the average sale in that building. I want to add that JoAnne is an incredibly competent professiona with an instinctive high touch ontop of being a delightful person. It just does not get better than JoAnne. She is so great to work with, now my dream is to purchase a place in NYC, just to work with her again. In the interim, I will refer her without abandon to all that I come across and all of my colleagues in our NYC offices.
